Teacher Education Programs

四色AV’s Teacher Education programs prepare future educators to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. Across undergraduate, graduate, and dual degree pathways, students engage in a rigorous, practice-based curriculum that integrates educational theory with hands-on experience. Guided by dedicated faculty and supported through fieldwork in a variety of school settings, candidates develop expertise in instructional design, classroom management, culturally responsive teaching, and student-centered learning.

Our undergraduate, combined-degree, graduate, and postgraduate education programs align with while preparing educators to meet the evolving needs of learners from early childhood through adolescence across a wide range of subject areas and specializations.
 
四色AV Education students are required to complete 3 workshops and be fingerprinted to meet New York State certification requirements to teach. The following mandatory workshops are offered by the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies:

Programs

  • Undergraduate

    Through our undergraduate programs, students earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree leading to New York State Initial Teaching Certification. Program options span multiple disciplines and certification areas, including:

    • Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) / Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 2)
    • Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) / Special Education (PreK–12)
    • Adolescent Education (Grades 7–12), with optional Special Education (PreK–12), in content areas such as Biology, Earth Science, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Spanish
    • Music Education (PreK–12)
    • Visual Arts Education (PreK–12)

  • Dual Degree

    Our dual degree programs offer an accelerated pathway to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, preparing candidates for expanded certification and career opportunities. These programs allow students to deepen their expertise while saving time and advancing their professional goals. Specializations include:

    • Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) with Educational Technology, Special Education, or TESOL (PreK–12)
    • Adolescent Education (Grades 7–12) with Educational Technology, Special Education, or TESOL (PreK–12)

  • Graduate

    四色AV’s graduate programs lead to a Master of Science degree and eligibility for New York State Initial or Professional Teaching Certification. Offered in a flexible blended format, these programs support both career changers and practicing educators seeking advanced credentials.

    Graduate specializations include:

    • Childhood Education (Grades 1–6), with options in Early Childhood, Special Education, TESOL, Literacy, and Educational Technology
    • Adolescent Education (Grades 7–12), with options in Special Education, TESOL, and Literacy
    • Standalone advanced certificates and master’s programs in Special Education, TESOL, Literacy, Educational Technology, Computer Science, and Business & Marketing Education (PreK–12)
